Default Any tips on improving fuel economy on a 2500 duramax?

I recently bought a 2007 2500hd duramax and got much lower fuel economy on the haul than I had been expecting. Pulling a 8500lb trailer I was only getting about 8.5 mpg. Any suggestions on what I can do to get this average up. BTW I am only getting about 15mpg in town too. Thanks for any help on this!!

Are you kidding? Your pulling more than what the truck weighs. 15mpg in town is not bad mpg.
