Brake light
 

Hey! I have an 04 silverado, The check brake system comes on the dash and the parking brake light is on. What controls the light and message center? Brake fluid level is good. Parking brake switch is good and pedal is fully up. Could it possibley be a vaccum leaking in the booster? Brake pads/ rotors are good. any idea on how too further diagnose the system?

You have a problem with the ABS system on your truck. Most likely problem is the ABS module located under drivers door inside frame. Have the truck scanned at any place but the stealers to find out what code it is showing. Have 3 Silverados and 2 had same problem. Took out the module which is mounted on top of unit that has the brake line going to it. Its somewhat of a pain to get out as you may have to remove the whole unit and send it in for rebuild. Found a place back East that does it for around $75 w/shipping. Found on E-bay, sometime it is also good to find a used one for a spare as this is a common problem. Also check the grounds especially by the drivers door outside frame looking forward and both connections on the unit.
