Building 87 chevy truck. Questions

Hey guys I have a 1987 chevy 1/2 ton w/ 350. 4x4. I bought the truck totaled (i bought it for the 4wd and the TBI). I have an 85 that didn't run but cosmetically looked pretty good. we are putting the body of the 85 onto the 87 frame. Im in the pain staking process of wiring everything and putting all the trim etc.

Anyways before i get the front clip on and all i wanna tune it up some. And i have some questions.

1. I have been looking at performance chips and i see promises of up to 60 Hp gain. I think this is a pretty steep amount for a gas motor. Anybody have any experience with the older gas trucks and chipping them?

2. It has duel tanks and all of my family that has ever owned a truck with dual tanks advised me to scrap the solenoid and put in a manual valve. Any input on this?

3. At first i wanted to put MSD ingition on. But ive been doing some research and found it may not be worth the money (very little to no Hp gains).

4. Lastly any suggestions on any other fairly cheaps options for some mileage/hp gain?

Thanks for any input guys/gals
