Default C1500 Won't Start..

So my truck is a '96 C1500 5.7 2wd. I just had the transmission rebuilt and the ignition switch replaced. The battery is only about 4 months old and I've never had problems like this. I drove it down the road with no problem, shut it off, and after about 2 minutes I tried to crank it again and it just wouldn't. I don't have the tools or time to be just ripping stuff off to see if it works and I don't really have any idea what to check. The battery is fine, everything electrical is ok- the dash lights up, lights come on, radio comes right on. I can hear the fuel pump come on when the key is on. But nothing from anywhere beyond that. Maybe just the starter? I took a hammer and beat the crap out of it and normally that would work, at least for a while, if that was the problem. I have no idea.... So if any of yall could give me an idea I'd appreciate it.

yea, it is a pretty simple system, there are only a few things that could go wrong and the solenoid is certainly one of the prime ones.

plugged fuel filter or no gas... if too much... you got wet or fouled plugs perhaps. dry em out.
