If you have a buddy that has the same engine you have you could try swapping it to see if it is the problem....

I;m gonna call a few more places tomorrow and see if I can get a better price somewhere else. I looked online at the one that part source has and it doesn't look like the one that's on my truck at all.

It looks like the top right one, I called a few more places today and it's still well over $200 everywhere i've called. I really can't afford to do this repair right now. Is it imperative that it be done? I could probably get the cash together in a week or so, but that's still sooooo much to shell out!

imperative...no not really its an emissions item thou if its stuck open you could have some driveability problems, and you won't pass inspection.
You could try disconnecting the harness from it and if its in a closed position the only issue you will have is the code setting.
The bonus is you will have a little more pep as it won't be dumping spent exhaust back into the intake...

suzuki...I see your post but that doesn't apply to this case....like mdtahoe said, the EGR is electronically controled, not vacuum.

Dismount the EGR valve and shoot a little carb cleaner onto the needle (plunger) and let it sit for a spell and then shoot it again and use a soft brush to help remove some of the carbon build-up from the plunger. This is a TEMPORARY fix, but should keep you on the road until you can scrape together some funds for the new EPR valve.

success,
