coolant low, exhaust smell, fuel guage not working

famous mystery coolant consumption (needs lower intake gasket)

also found:

1) causes GM didn't tell you, why to just do it sooner than later

2) fuel pressure regulator was deteriorating (rtv flaking off membrane) due to age (see link)

3) 3 out of 6 spider tubes needed cleaning badly (youtube way). the injectors were all good. 1 had not been working. exhaust smell

4) a mechanic had said fuel guage working only 1/2 time was due to fuel pump. nope: fuel circulating due to leaky regulator.

5) exhaust had backflap (paper on tail pipe). this was due to one cyl not working much: not valves

SUMMARY: my NEW hindsight is: at 100k definitely by 150k: just do intake gasket and get $250 update injector spider kit (GM does you a favor actually on this). see articles why

after doing the work (see below) it ran great didn't want to stop driving. but i wouldn't say it's wise to run it after all those injector parts went though. i'd say gain get the kit you'll be much happier and it's real easy.

all in all $50 + $250 + shop supplies and it will take (1st time) all day or two. definetely don't put it off it needs it and for the price the fix returns driving to about new cond

i might eat my words on "it fixed my fuel guage". it seemed to be working and does work different, but didn't totally fix (likely it's also the fuel sending thing)
