Default cuting down a longbed to a shortbed

Im thinking about making my 72 c10 into a shortwide, has anyone ever done this on this year? ive seen trucks with a 88-99 stepside bed on them but a dont like the look. what i need to know is how much to cut the frame down and the best place to do it. also how much to cut the front and back of the bedsids? I know it will be tons of work and im just thinking about doing it.....any thoughts???

Don't chop a 72 C10... Thats a beautiful truck as is, and you can do a lot to it.

i absolutely agree. these trucks are gettin harder to find. now 73-87 are a dime a dozen, no one would be upset if you tried your idea there. but yeah, don't hack your 72 up. pretty please.

If it has the wood bed, you can replace it with a all metal bed. A buddy of mine has a longbed 69, with the wood, thing sucks at the dragstrip with no weight in the back. My other friend Eric had a longbed 69 GMC, full metal bed, a lot better at the strip.

It has the metal bed, i only had a 305 in it with a 218 duration cam and .458 lift and holley street dominator intake with edlebrock carb and headers and i could burn the one tire lol for a block..just punching it from a stop. i would like to put a mini spool in the rear i know that would help a bunch, and i also want to lower it a little, but im waiting for my tax return to finish the engine (pretty much stock L31 with carb)....all it needs is an intake....i'll have to post some pics soon!!!
