Diff gear change:410 to 342

04 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 with 6.0L(364)LQ4 engine, 4L80E transmission and standard 16" E Radial Tires-Has anyone else changed from the factory 410 differential gears to 342 gears?

3.42 suck no matter what you are driving. if you tow at all the 3.42 are going to suck compared to the 4.10 you have.
if you are just doing it for gas mileage you would have to own the truck for many many years to break even.

410 gears run your revs at @2900RPM at 65MPH, hope you're not towing anything on the highway. Anybody done the 410 to 342 change? How did you adjust the CPU, or did it compensate for itself eventually?

You have to change the VSSB unit to adjust the speedo. http://www.tbichips.com/drac/

How about a taller tire that would change it & their are charts on the net to tell you your gearing would be?

Revs, and lots of them, are your friend when towing with gas engines. They are not evil..
