Default disc brake conversion question

Wanting to convert my read drums to disc on my 84 silverado. My question is can i take the rear end out of a newer silverado that already has disc and replace the rearend in the truck or do i have to do the conversion kit??

either way you're going to have to change and jimmy things to make them work, I'd imagine in the long run it'd be cheaper and much easier to just get a disc brake conversion kit
