Thought it would be nice to break away from the

"MORE POWER!!" threads for a change, and start a

topic concerning anything to improve your full-size

vehicle's economy.

Has anyone gone to a smaller engine and drivetrain?

i like to practice the feather foot driving technique. Only downside is people sneer at you while you drive like a 90 year old.

I had an 08 crew 4x2 4.8l. It got 13-14 in the city and 17s on the interstate (75 mph)

My current 08 crew 4x4 gets 10-12 in the city and 14-16 on the interstate (75 mph).

Both trucks had the same tranny ratios and rear ends (3.73)
Don't let the salesman LIE to you and tell you that a bigger motor uses less gas because it doesn't have to work as hard. I needed the bigger motor for a camper i am towing. The 4.8l actually got BETTER mpg towing the same camper. The only problem was it wouldn't go faster than 55mph :0

I'm hoping Justin and Black bear can do something with the unloaded mpgs I get up the $$$ Maybe he can do something with the lack of impression my truck gives me at full throttle.

Guilty right here. You can't even imagine what people can do to you if you drive like this. You can hear curses everywhere.

Well, as many drivers in this section may agree,

I'm not driving some rabbity Honda or coupe.

I'm in a CCLB, 21+ feet long, and 7200 lbs, unloaded.

So I don't have the luxury of driving like some irresponsible

schmuck.

No rapid lane changes, tailgating, and plowing up to a

red lite at 80MPH and slamming on the brakes at the very last second.

Because if my truck hit a car, it would be sort of like a

cinder block dropping on a soda can...
