Ethanol gas
Good day;
I have a 5.3 in my 2006 chev. should i have any worries about running e-10 e-15 gas? other than the poor fuel mileage? Thanks, Bill.. |
Most stations around here run a e10 blend and I haven't seen any bad effects of it except for a lil loss I'm mpg. I you have a station that has no ethanol blend in their gas then I'd go there

shouldnt have any issues if you keep up on your maintenance

I have read a little on the subject but am no expert. imo i wouldn't go over 10% unless your are flex fuel compatible. Ethanol in to high concentration will corrode the pump, injectors, metal lines not designed for ethanol blends.

If you can stay away from it, do so. I get 20% more from regular gas. Ethanol is a blend of alcohol, and enthane. I have worked at the city of Russell Ks they generate thier own power, sell steam to the ethanol plant next to it. It in essence is a brewery that makes ethanol for a blend. As tech2 stated this is an alcohol blend, it can cause problems over time with it. I've seen stations advertise 10 -15% ethanol.
