ok, I am the one guy that will be bothering you all endlessly with truck problems that my truck seems to have...
It's the 1998 Silverado K1500 z-71 ext. cab with auto tranny and 5.7L.

I need a serpentine belt and radiator.. may more once i start digging into it...

to buy a serpentine belt I need to know if the alternator is a 120 or 140 amp.. I have no clue...

for the radiator- what is a good brand and how do I know which one to get?

Usually the alternator has the amperage stamped on it. Z71s generally have the larger alternator. Worst come to worst, remove the old belt, take it into the store, and compare it to the new one.

I'd go with a recommended aftermarket name brand for alternators; what I generally do with items like this(most recently my battery) is figure out who has the most available stores to return a defective part to IN YOUR AREA in the event of a problem down the road. Keep the receipt on big-ticket items like batteries and alternators with your owners manual or your registration.

I figured it out. My alternator is 100 amps... called the dealership and they ran my VIN... it's only 100 amps.
