Lifting an 06 Silverado

Not sure if anyone knows off hand but I was told that if I lifted my truck over 4 inches I would have to get the parts necessary to extend my steering column to compensate for the higher lift. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks in advance to all!

No you're steering column goes up with the lift, only time you need an extension is if you do a 3" body lift. I have a 6" suspension lift and didn't have to extend anything

country_09 thanks for the input. I have a buddy of mine that lifted his 04 F350 and he didn't have to change anything. The guy that told me I would have to extend the steering column is not someone I trust so I definitely wanted to check into it. What size tires do you have?

Just be sure you really want to lift it before you do. I lifted mine about 4 years ago and now wish I was back at stock height since I now pull a 35ft 5th wheel camper.

I have a wife and kid so the house and them come first but it's something that I would like to do if I can find the money. I would say there is a really good chance my truck will stay stock though! haha.

Just get you a levelin kit if you can't go too high...2-2.5" right there for much cheaper

Thanks for this, was planning the same...

I started out with a readylift leveling kit. I had 3" blocks in the rear and 2.5" torsion keys in the front and it sat nice and level but it just wasnt enough for me. I ended up going with a 6" skyjacker suspension lift with 35" bfg mud terrain km2's. The leveling kit is alot cheaper than the lift but still pricey for just leveling, I spent 260 for the keys 160 for the blocks and 150 for the install of the keys and I did the blocks myself. It all depends on what you are looking for.
