Default light Shimmy on take off,HELP!!

Hey guys, I need help with my 05 2500hd cc Lb 4x4,When I take off from a dead stop there is a light shimmy felt throughout the truck for a quick second, longer and harder if i am towing. It is felt at about 1600 rpm.I noticed the center support bearing has some play in it,could this be the problem?? Thanks guys for your help..

that could cause it, especially if there is a U joint thats getting stiff helping the driveshaft to stay out of center.

Lighten up on the gas, dude, I had the same problem with my 04-2500HD-CCLB-4X4.

The 6.0L and those 410 gears ROCK THE SUBURBS right from the factory. I think you may find the shimmy is because you're breaking traction on take off. Go a little easier on the pedal, and things will probably smooth right out. Your truck has 50 more HP than mine, that thing must smoke tires if you breathe on the gas pedal.

BTW, welcome to the fine world of no gas filter...

try a brake torque at light throttle and work your way up, most drive shaft vibrations i have seen come at higher speeds

if you have a bad carrier or a tight U joint it will go out of center mostly when theres more torque applied...
who would sell a truck over a clutch? those are easy to change and cost alot less than a new truck
plus i dont remember ever seeing a 2500HD with a 5 speed since they only seem to sell that trans with the v6.

Lighten up on the gas huh?, I think I'm as easy as I could be on the throttle!! Any easier and it would be faster to walk!! I have broke loose the tires before and that was a harsh shimmy, this is a light shimmy.

Sounds like a universal joint to me. Sometimes when you back up slowly, a dry u-joint will chirp telling on itself.

I thought I was going light on the throttle too, but I was used to a V6.

Yanno, if I'm wrong about this, it'll be the first time EVER in 50 years...(yeah-yeah)

...or as Emily Latella would say, "Nevermind!"

dude, it's 2000 ........... 5.3 vortec, not 2500 model. and automatic transmissions have wet clutches in them, in packs. easy to replace, huh? that's trannie overhaul or replacement.
when wet clutches wear off, they start slipping under load, giving jerky acceleration or going up hill, or towing.
