LOCKING REAR END

Have an '07 Crew 2WD with locking rear end. After letting sealer on driveway dry I was backing diagonally over a ditch that runs between mine and the neighbors driveway and heard and felt a large clunck; it was as if I had hit something. This happened asone of the rear wheels began to loose traction.I got out and looked both times even though I knew there was nothing for me to hit. Could this benormal behavior when the rear axle locks. If so I wouldn't want it to to be used very often. Felt as if I backed into a solid brick wall.

RE: LOCKING REAR END

So, anybody had their locking rear end to engage. I was hoping someone could tell me how their truck behaved. Was there a large clunk like you just hit something solid?

RE: LOCKING REAR END

i do not have the locking rear end. or any type of locking rear. sadly its open but i have seen videos of the silverado on a test coarse where one side was concrete the other was rolling pins in the ground and the silverado was at a 30 degree incline. when the truck went up one tire was spinning and then you hear a loud bump and the truck instantly gets traction. the other tire broke loose from the instant traction then just went up the hill no problem what so ever
