looking for better gas mileage on my old truck

Hello forum,
I have been gone from this site for awhile but I am back with a project in mind if anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it.

I have a 1960 -1966 style c-10 pick up. I was wondering if any one knows of a good rear end to bolt in to get better mileage. The original truck rear end has more low end gears I am looking for something that has higher highway gearing.

General truck info:
motor: 350
Tranny: synchronized manual 4 speed
rear end : original

Hey cdc9266,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

First we should find out what the gearing on your truck is now.
Check the RPO codes on the Service
Parts Identification sticker inside your glove box.

thanks therewolf

Thanks for those numbers, but the glove box insert is not original so it won't be able to help me. I do know that the rear end is a twelve bolt pattern.
