maf test on 01 silverado

Does anyone know how to test the MAF on an 01 silverado. It is throwing a maf code and would like to know how to check it before my cousin buys anoter one.

It could be just dirty.

is the car running rough is so unplug and see if it stops running rough
also brake clean can be sprayed in it to clean it
but do not touch anything inside of it
