Million mile 2007 Sierra 5.3

This is cool. Dude drives 150,000 miles a year. That's insane.

I wonder if the "bad valve" was an AFM issue?

Columbus native and Phenix City resident, Tommy Bush practically lives on the road. He is a parts coordinator for a fork lift company in Pennsylvania.

Bush bought a GMC Sierra 1500 back in 2007 and just recently rolled over to 1,000,000 miles, but the only problem is that the odometer will only go to 999,999.

Bush says he covers 17 states and usually travels between 160 and 170,000 miles a year and replaced the engine at 409,000 miles because it had a bad valve in it.

Tommy says he averages 150,000 miles on each set of Michelins he put on it. He has gone through six windshields, five gas caps, only two batteries, and almost broke down once.

“I came real close one time, changed the alternator on it at 840 something thousand miles. It went out up in the mountains and I actually made it to a dealership to get it changed. That’s the only time I come close to breaking down,” Bush says

I drive an average 135,000 miles a year with my semi truck. I just turned over 445,000 miles on the original drive tires. Will be replacing them in about a month. On second set of steer tires, and they have 235,000 miles on them.

But doing this with a pickup and being a parts coordinator, which would seem to entail a lot of stop offs, this guy must never be home, and driving 18 hrs a day. I don't care what line of work it is, I am not running 160,000 miles a year for no one. I think his numbers are a little skewed anyway. Even team drivers in semi trucks running nationwide don't turn over much more miles than this guy is claiming, unless they are running their butt off. It doesn't pass the smell test.

170,000 miles a year comes out to 466 miles every freaking day of the year. That's crazy. At 60 MPH, that would be almost 8 hours on the road every single day.

If he only drives weekdays, that's 651 miles every weekday. At 60 MPH, that's almost 11 hours every weekday.

I can't stand driving 230 miles to my beach house 4 times a year. Takes me 3.5 hours with no stops.
