what would be a quick or easy way to get a few more horsepower out of my truck? I got a 98 silverado ext. cab 5.7L vortec v8. I got it lifted around new years and now I want to see if I can get some more power out of it. It also has cold air intake and flowmaster exhaust. I thought about getting new cams but wasn't sure if there was anything else I could do. I'm kinda on a tight budget right now.

If you put bigger tires on when you lifted it then it's time for some new gears.

4.56 would work good on your truck :D:D or 4.88

You would need to invest a lot of money to gain the HP required to get the same result of a gear change, it can be expensive if you can't do the gears yuorself. I would go with the 4.56 if you use it as a DD.

Also a set of headers and a programer will gain a few hp.....maybe some roller rocker arms...they are usually somewhat affordable and easy to install

I swear by duct tape... Put that anywhere on your truck, you will gain horsepower...

I have looked into getting a programmer, but it's harder to find programmers I like for a 98. It seems like a number of programmers don't support silverados earlier than 99
