400hp to the wheels? Won't happen with just that. Prolly not even crank power. Best best for more power, drop a 6.0 in there, put longtube headers, intake, cam, and do a custom tune. Not a handheld programmer please. That'll get you close

boost!

Stock motor with boost equals low reliability.

So what is the reason you want 400 HP engine? Work or play? Did you plan to go though or up grade the trans, differential, brakes and is it 4WD with big tires?
To do a lot of work like pulling a trailer the whole powertrain and brakes work harder.
For play a big engine will ware out or beak everything else sooner.

If want this for work: research upgrading to a vehicle that better fits your needs. You may find newer stronger more reliable vehicle will be cheaper in the long run.

For play on a budget: you may want to also look at tire size and gear ratio depending on what you have now.

hog............wash

the entire aftermarket industry is based on building on stock engines. here is one kit from a 5 second search. you be at 350hp at the wheels. no bottom end build required.
the trans will be done long before the engine I bet.
