Hey guys. Glad I found this place.

My 2006 4.8 just started ticking at idle. It is a 2500, 2wd, automatic.

Here is what I have noticed. It does not seem to tick when it is cold. It is definitely coming from under the truck and more so on the passenger side. It goes away when you put it in Drive. It is present at park, neutral and Reverse. You cannot hear it while driving and even at idle if you give it some throttle it goes away. It is a very noticeable (fairly loud) ticking. Oil pressure at idle is around 25-30 and goes over 40 at highway speeds. There are no check engine lights on. The vehicle has 73K miles. I was hoping it was an exhaust manifold but it does not sound like that.

I did take this to a shop where they put it on a hoist very briefly. Nothing was taken off and no stethoscope was used or anything. Just a guy with a flashlight. They thought the flexplate (flywheel) was cracked.

I came here to the pros. Any ideas or any more information needed?

Have you checked your oil? not the guage the actual oil...my 5.3 ticks towards the end of my oil change...probably because for some odd reason it burns a ton of oil
