MPG on 2010 - 2011 Silverado 2500?

I'm looking to get rid of my 98 2500 7.4L. Last I checked about 8-10 years ago I was lucky to get 11 MPG. OUCH:(

I am trying to find something '08 to '11 even '12 if the numbers are right. But mainly searching for '10 - '11. I'm also wanting a crew cab.

I see the stickers and what they say. But let's get real here, what are you actually getting as far as MPG in your truck and what year/engine is it?

Thanks a lot

Dono

Depending on how driven, anywhere from 13-17 from what I've seen

Sounds about right. My 08 DRW crew 4x4 gets 15-16 empty but I have a heavy tool box, 285's,leveled, iron bull front bumper. Towing is where you will see the real difference. Most gassers I know get between 6 and 8 mpg while towing, I get 10-12.

How and where you drive and the load carried make a 50% difference in MPG. These are 7000 lb. trucks and so with around town driving the mileage is going to be at its worst. On hilly terrain or winding roads the mileage is going to be much worse than on straight flat highways.

I have the 2011 diesel and my in town mileage is averaging 15.2 but on the open highway at a steady 65mph I get 19 MPG on average.

Pulling a load or having a lot of extra weight in the bed will pull down the MPG but nowhere near as much as driving at 70+ speeds on the highway. The wind resistance quadruples when you double your speed.
