Need Help quick 05 silverado crank but not start

Default Need Help quick 05 silverado crank but not start

I have a 05 Silverado 4.8 L that ran fine parked it a month ago and just haven't needed to drive it tried to start it this morning and cranks sputters for a couple seconds and dies low fuel light was on so thru about 3-4 gallon in it but no luck tried cycling key and waiting to see if I got some air in the lines and still same problem a small shot of either will keep it running a little longer but still dies could fuel pump have gone bad just sitting ? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I doubt the fuel pump died in that time. Why did you park it? Was something wrong?

My guess would be you parked it with low gas, and the small amount of gas mixed with the gunk in the bottom of the tank and when you started it you probably tossed all that gunk into the fuel filter.

Bad news is, in your model the fuel filter is integrated into the in-tank pump...

Yes the fuel pump can die in that instance. Especially if there was not enough gas in the tank to keep the pump submerged. Happens quite often. It is also possible a rodent ate some wires by the tank.
