P0053 Fault code
Hi, i need some advice. I have been getting a code of P0053 for 2 weeks now and I found that it could be several things. Possible causes for this check engine light code include:
Blown oxygen sensor fuse Open circuit in oxygen sensor harness Open circuit internal to oxygen sensor Open circuit in PCM Short circuit in oxygen sensor harness Short circuit internal to oxygen sensor Short circuit internal to PCM My question is, does anyone know first-hand what to check first? I found a fuse in the box under the hood with a broken leg on it, replaced it, but it didn't help anything. I found the HO2S Heater Resistance area on the fuse block, but they all seemed fine. I am lost trying to find the Bank 1, Sensor 1 area it says to look, and not found much of a location idea from the internet. Thanks in advance. |
Bank 1 is the side of the exhaust header (manifold) where cylinder #1 is. Sensor 1 is upstream of the catalytic converter, or between the cat and the engine. Visually check the O2 sensor & wire harness first but you probably have a bad oxygen sensor. I would replace the front 2, both on either side of the engine closest to the engine.

Thanks alot. That helps me out tremendously.
