P0172 & P0175 Codes

Hey All, I have a 1998 Chevy K1500 Silerado with the 305 5.0L. I just changed the plugs, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the maf sensor, and installed a cold air intake. Before all of this I would get a code for the maf sensor now and then. When I installed the cold air intake I had to add some wire to maf plug, about 3". The trucks runs a lot better with the new plugs. Now I get obd code p0172 & p0175 which is too rich on both banks.

The codes only seems to come up at lower speeds, 35-40 mph and not at the higher speeds. I can smell gas at times when I come to a quick stop.

I have been told that the wiring might be the problem, because I used butt connector's, and they have a lot of resistance.

My thought is that the cold air intake is not getting enough air at the lower speeds.

Any ideas???
