hi im new to the forum and i just recently read the recall on the parking brake for the 2001 silverado, the parking brake never worked on my truck...is it too late to get it fixed? thanks

Check with a local Chevy dealer. I think safety recalls are good until repaired. Have youVIN number handy when you call.

so i ended up calling chevy about the parking brake issue and at first they told me they were going to send me a letter so i could show it to a dealer and get it fixed for free..then the next day i get a call saying that my truck didnt qualify??? total b.s.

Is it safe to assume that the dealer used your VIN and compared it to the list of effected vehicles or contacted GMVIS and this is how they determined that it did not qualify for the fix?

If you would give me the last 8 digits of your VIN I would be happy to double check for you.

Also keep in mind that these lists can sometimes be expanded to include more vehicles, this is done at times to prevent a shortage of parts needed to complete the repair or as it is determined that other vehicles are effected.
