Default rough idle and stall after installing cold air intake

Hi everyone I am really bummed right now! I've had my 2004 silverado z71 since new and just recently have been bitten by the mod bug! So around 2 weeks ago I installed a Flowmaster super 40 and I love it! Then today I picked up a K&N cold air intake and put that on. I was so ready to start it up and when I did it idled rough and stalled out on a test drive, twice! A friend of mine said his truck fired up and kicked butt right outta the gate when he installed his cai. I could use any imput if you have any.....HELP!

It will be running more lean, but shouldn't stall.
Hoe many rpm's is it idling at?
Is the Cai fitting firmly connected?
No gap anywhere?
you didn't umplug any air sensors did you?

First make sure the MAF is connected and also installed correctly and if so make sure you did not oil filter so much as it clogs the MAF. check for any air leaks especially aound tube you connected to engine. The plastic K&N tubes leak right at that point,

+1 on the MAF... Make sure you have it reconnected, and that it is not flipped backwards...

Hey thanks you guys for the replies! Well I removed the entire intake and re-installed it. Started the truck and voila! I'm guessing as you guys said I had an air leak and or the maf was not plugged in correctly. As far as the intake, it definately improved the throttle response but not anything to crazy. Now on to headers! Any suggestions?

Harris, edlebrock,
Tbh, a cheap pair at autozone or Kragen will likely be just as good.
Go longtube if you can, as long as you don't have any legal smog issues.
Some headers have a problem with a little pinhole leak, but if you
Put exhaust wrap around the headers, you won't hear the faint ts-ts-ts-ts-
Sound if there is a little hole. Or if you for some reason are against wrap,
You could easily find the hole and 1 little spotted weld will fix the problem.
But outing on some exhaust wrap will actually help your cold air intake work
Better. It will also net you power gain in other ways too.

While you're at it, pick up some granatelli spark plug wires to get you
About 15 more HP.
Most plug cables for cars are several thousand ohms. With all that resistance. The current that
Gives the plug its spark has to work harder to get to the end of the wire.
With granatelli, their wires have only 2 ohms of resistance. So essentially all of the power
That goes into the wire comes out the other end. The result is better response,
More power, better fuel efficiency and a much smoother running engine.
