rubbing noise when turning left
Greetings !
I have a 2004 silverado 1500 ext. cab./ 85k When turning left, at a slow speed, I hear a rubbing noise, (rubber?) and feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel. no clunks or bangs like I've read about. Steers fine, back roads, and hwy. P/S fluid is full.....no leaks underneath. serpentine belt is tight. Can anyone out there guide me in the right direction please ? Would like to do this repair myself. Thank-you in advance. Bigdaddy |

checked wheel bearing,No play in wheel.
Sounds like rubber against metal. actually sounds like it's coming from the firewall |
Could it be the blower motor, since you say sounds like it is comming from the firewall?
|
don't think it's a blower motor.
feels like it's in steering column. I read there's an intermediate steering shaft. Anyone have any insight?? Thanks ! Bigdaddy |
sounds like the seal that the steering shaft goes through at the firewall is dry. Spray some silicone on the seal. My truck does the same thing. it is a squeel/ moan sound.
|
Yes.....that is the sound !!
I will spray it after work. Stay tuned ! Thank-you. Bigdaddy |
