Silverado 2500 tire pressure issues
#11
I live in Corpus and most dealers and Discount tire will reset TPMS when you change tire from the 10ply E rated to a 8 ply D rated tire. The factory tires on my 2009 2500HD were E rated and reqiured 80psi rear/50psi front with the change to the D rated tires the rear pressure is 65psi max . Before I got the TPMS reset for lower air pressures my TPMS light stayed on telling me that my rear tires were low all the time. So if they don't get them reset then you will have a light shinning all the time. I was told that the dealer or any tire shop could not change the settings unless you changed the tire ply rating and could only set them to the tire reqiurements on your truck/car at the time. A friend of mine has a 09 1500 and went to 8 ply tiresand had to get his reset because he runs 50psi instead of the factory 35psi his truck had with the 6 ply so his light was on saying he had to much air in his tires. I guess it really depends on the service department at the dealers. Not everyone wants to run the factory tires size or ply on their trucks.
