Silverado won't start - fuel pump?
 

2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3L fuel pump issue?
My truck would not start. I assumed it was a bad fuel pump since I didn't hear it operating when key was turned on.

I measured the voltage at the engine control center 'prime' terminal and also at fuel pump connector with ignition switched on. Looks good for 2 seconds as expected for the prime.

I replaced the fuel pump. New pump sounds like it is working (comes on for the 2 sec prime). The truck still won't start. I repeated this many times: switch ignition on and off to help prime the system.

Also replaced fuel filter. I checked to see if there was any fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Just a little came out. I disconnected the fuel line at the pump and connected a hose directly off the fuel pump and nothing was coming out. I got another fuel pump (same manufacture) assuming I received a bad one. The same thing. Used some starting fluid - truck turns over a second or two until fluid burns off.
I used a fairly inexpensive one from 1Aauto $105.
Any other ideas on what I can test to verify a fuel pump issue.

from what you have tested I would say go buy a A/C delco fuel pump.

Try double checking your fuel pump relay, and the inline fuse that should be near the relay. I had a similar problem come into my shop and all it was was a 20 amp fuse that kept getting over looked.

I swapped the fuel pump relay with the horn relay (they were the same).
No difference. Horn still works too.

I re-checked the fuel pressure at the access point on top of the engine. nothing is coming out.
I squirted some gas into the carb and it started up and ran for 4-5 seconds.

Where is the inline fuse. I didn't see anything labeled.

I checked a bunch of fuses-basically anything related to fuel.
Nothing bad.
Maybe I should buy a different fuel pump with a more reputable brand.

Above is straight out of the factory manual. If you are only paying $105.00, it can not be very good. As long as you have power and ground to the pump the problem has to be the pump. I recommend a better pump preferably Ac Delco.

are the injectors clean? ...when you turn the key on, do you get any spray?

Having the same issue..I knew old pump was going bad.. bought new Delphi, worked well for about 20 days. Had a "dead crank" so I changed relay but it was good and the truck suddenly fired up. 4 days later, same problem, so I checked wiring plugs above the tank..unplugged, checked, plugged back in and it fired. Got the truck home and decided to change out the pump. Replaced sending unit and it was pumping fuel, no issues. Started again the next day and drove out but would not pump fuel after trying to depart my destination. I'm lost..all new SS fuel lines, new filter and tank cleaned to spec

Got mine working today! I was in a hurry when I replaced my sending unit and didn't check the 4 pin harness (Guage and Pump) and didn't bother wiring in the new harness that came with the new pump. This job was the third sending unit that's been on this truck, with the initial stock one being replaced over 12 years ago and the second one just last month. It was a bad grounding issue where the crimp connectors were installed. It would work.. drive a bit and then not work.. even testing the wiring it seemed good..until I moved that harness around. Which I did after unplugging it and plugging it back in .worked for awhile. I installed the new harness today and soldered connections this time. Retested circuit and everything was good.
