Stalling in neutral?

Hi everybody, cruising down the interstate in 5th gear and my truck starts to smoke (white) around my front fender and a small shaking so I pull over to the shoulder, turn the truck off and pop the hood. By then the smoke was already gone and don't remember any weird smells. Closed the hood and truck starts right up like normal... But now here's the weird part, I start the truck in neutral with the clutch down but as soon as I pull the clutch out, it stalls. Truck won't move in any gear and won't keep running in any gear with the clutch out. When off it won't stay in 5th, but stays in the other gears fine so the shifter moves. Is my truck stuck in 5th or is some sort of linkage broken? Has this ever happened to anybody else on here?

2005 1500 base 2wd 5 speed with 140k on the original drivetrain. Brand new clutch put in a week ago.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Something is seazed up. Have you checked the transmission and the rear end for oil?

No I haven't been able to look at it, it's been in the shop.
