Default Tire pressure monitor

I just purchased a 2008 2500 that has the TPMS. Tire pressure is set for 80 rear and 60 front. That is too much for an unloaded vehicle. My previous 2500 I ran 80 rear when towing 5th wheel and 40 empty. That is what Michelin recommends. How can I do that with the TPMS system?
Paul
PS: My previous vehicle I got 70,000 miles out of original tires and rode good unloaded.

The dealers have to do those adjustments and I doubt they would do what you are asking. I sure wouldn't.

Thanks for response but don't understand what the problem is. My rear axels have less than 3000 lbs unloaded. 80 lbs of pressure is for max load of 6084. Running unloaded with 80 lbs wont have full foot print of tire on road surface. Tendency would be to wear center of tire tread. Plus the overly harse ride.
Thanks anyway,
Paul

THE TIRE PRESSURE SETTINGS ARE SET FROM THE FACTORY YOU HAVE TO RUN THAT PSI OR YOU WILL SET THE TPM CODE. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT CHANGED IS TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER AND THEY WILL HAVE TO CALL GEM AND HAVE THEM MAKE A PROGRAM FOR YOUR TRUCK BUT THEN WHEN YOU FILL THE TIRE TO 80 PSI THE TPM CODE WILL SET AGAIN.

I HAVE A 2500HD WIT A 6.O AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

The dealer can change the tire pressure threshold. They need go to the (RCDR) door lock reciever module and reprogram the settings. I change these settings atthe dealer I work for. They do not need to call GM and get a (VCI) special program written for vehicle. They only need the tech 2.
