What diesel engine would be best for 93 Silverado?

I am a diesel only guy, but this truck was traded. Diesel is always priced lower than even 87 gas. Also diesel engines don't get as hot and last much longer.

This engine only has 120k miles so I'm gonna keep it until it dies most likely. But I'm thinking of what my move would be when the engine dies or is too expensive to fix.

Anyone swap a gas engine out for a diesel engine on a 93 Silverado before? If so how has the truck been running and was it worth it for you?

A 6.2 or 6.5 Detroit is the easiest way to go although they have few advantages over a gas engine. The 93 and earlier models are fully mechanical and will swap in fairly easy.

If your talking about the 1500 truck in your sig you may run into problems with the extra weight of a diesel.
Also if you have a auto tranny it's probably a 4l60 which isn't going to handle any high powered diesels. Chevy did put 6.2 and 6.5's in half tons but they were all backed by heavier duty transmissions.

A 4bt cummins might be something to look into but the only thing I know for sure is that it's going to take $$$
