What newer over 2000 model Engines are compatible in a 97 2500 4x4?

I was just wondering What newer over 2000 model Engines are compatible in a 97 2500 4x4 with HD tranny???

what tranny is in there? I know most came with a 4L60e but by now sure whatever motor you decide to put in, there's adapter plates for it. if you have the 4L60e then I'm sure most of the newer motors will work as they also use the same tranny

well all i know so far is that i now have an HD Tranny 4x4
