Default When to Change Plugs

I usually do a spark plug, transmission, & coolant change on my vehicles at around 50,000 miles. I was just reading another post on how hard it is to change the rear plug.

With the improved engine controls on trucks these days do you run plugs to 100,000 miles now? I have an '09 Silverado.

100,000 is when I change mine. Plugs and wires. Weather they need it or not.

the irridium plugs have a long life and show little wear even when replacement is due. recommended replacement is 100 000miles and they will last that long without any stress on your ignition coils. Some shops recommend replacement at 60 000miles. Good things about gm is that the plugs come out nice (as long as they weren't over-torqued by the last guy) unlike the ford triton engine.

Mine were changed at 100,000 miles - along with the wires. They still looked pretty good, but since I bought my truck used, I wanted to be sure they were good to go.

With the 5.3L V8, there is no distributor cap & rotor to worry about; which is nice. It has the 'coil on plug' type of setup.

I also heard 100k miles. However my truck has 29k miles, kept getting a CEL and it ended up being a bad spark plug. But oh well - they are parts and things like that happen.
