Is it Worth it?

Hey all,

I am new to this forum and am looking at a used 2500 Chevy. It is a 1999 and has 60,000. The seats need help but are leather, 4x4, duel exhaust, some clear coat problem on driver side door above the window, and some racing graphics. The truck has some rust on the bottom of the door panels and on the under body. My question is it worth $4000.

Right now I drive a 1998 f150 and wondering what kind of improvement I may see.

Thanks
Austin:)

what motor is in it? if it is the 5.7 vortec then ya id say its worth that. those 5.7 vortects are a heck of a durable motor

Are there any major problems I should watch out for?

just your normal routine when buying a used vehicle. transmisson engine any leaks etc. thats about it really. i can not think of anything in particular you should look out for.

The rust is a definite negative, if it's spent time in a beach town or somewhere that used salt on the roads the truck is on it's way to being eaten up.

It is a Wisconsin truck so it has rust. It isn't noticeable but on the bottom of the doors and underneath. No holes just surface rust right now.

if you like it and are comfortable with paying that for it, go for it

A friend of mine lives in Pennsylvania - has a 2000 2500 with about 120,000 miles. He was down here in Florida when his brakes went out. Rust under the body had eaten his brake lines... He was told that they were NLA from Chevy - so the bed had to be pulled and new lines made up. While the bed was off anyway he went ahead and replaced the fuel lines as well.. Total bill was around $3000.00.

If rust is an issue under the truck - I'd sure inspect it closely before buying.....
