03 silverado shifter cable
 

I need to replace the shift cable on my 03 4x4 silverado. The lower half of the cable has a clip that was installed incorrectly and destroyed the end.I understand that you have to buy the whole cable but you can just replace the lower or upper cable has anyone replace just the lower cable? Also does the clip that fits in the lower cable come with the new cable?

You have to replace the whole assembly. Its a cheap part, about 70 dollars. It does require alignment so you will need two people to adjust it so the gear shift is right.
