Is the compressor cycling to quick ? If not and it has proper amount of freon, it should cool. To much freon as well will not cool as it should. Good luck,
david :)

Cycling too Quick

When you say cycling too quick ---

How quick is too quick ?

What is the acceptable time for the cycle on off of compressor ?

check how much refrigerant you have to start with

mdec950 May 6, 2012 10:08 AM

freon is in the green

freon is in the green - had approx 1.75 cans of freon
i checked the schrader valve on low side and it is good
the switch on the low side is working

cleveland63b May 6, 2012 11:17 AM

what does "in the green" mean and how big are the cans? if it gets cold interittently the first things to check are refrigerant charge, clutch air gap and pressures

mdec950 May 8, 2012 5:27 PM

installed amount

used a vac pump on the system to put negative pressure in the system
put in 2 two oz. ounces of compressor oil
put in 1.6 lb of freon
the guage I had was yellow low pressure
green correct pressure
red too much pressure

2002 HD2500 A/C not cooling

took out orifice tube cleaned it
replaced it

recharged with 2 cans of refrigerant
still not cool 80 degrees out vents

pressure is 25 Lbs to 70 lbs during cycle of the compressor

clutch is working

any ideas

well you have to have patience people don't just hover over the forums all day and people that do it all day at the shop dont always feel like being nice and giving away free knowledge that most people pay for.

Did your "cans of freon" have sealer in them? most of those crappy "top off" kits do and if they did YOU probably clogged the orifice tube, and if you didn't then you'll have bigger problems in the future or someone did a repair half ass in the past. A/C is a sealed system you shouldn't randomly develop a clog.
