2005 Silverado Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
Has anyone disabled the DRL's on a '05 Silverado? I've taken both the fuse and relay out but they still go on. Any suggestions without buying anything or wiring?

Thanks for the help but that is Incorrect. The DRL are the same lights if I were to turn the lights on with the switch.
Plus that is the lazy man's way. I rather do it right the first time than just taking the lights out.

This is right out of the description and operation for your truck from the gm service information.
"The DRL are separate lamps independent of the headlamps". the wiring diagram shows independent bulbs. The bulbs are located on the inner lower lamp assembly.
pulling the fuse and relay didn't work because you are trying to turn off the wrong light.

Thank you.
When I checked it yesterday late afternoon the main lights turned on and not the DRL's. Today the DRL's turned on and not the main lights.
I assume since there was low light the sensor turned on the main lights and not the DRL's. I also tried it in the parking structure and the main lights came on not the DRL's. I will try pulling the fuse and relay when I'm outside and it should take care of the problem and I will have to rewire the light sensor so they don't turn on automatically.

Really, your going to rewire the light sensor. Please tell how you are going to do this?
If you don't know what your doing you will end up with full time, full power headlamps or screwing up the auto headlamp system altogether. All to disable a safety system meant to prevent an accident. I don't understand why anyone would want to do this?

By chance, is there two fuses for the DRL's on that 2005 like there were on the 2013? I pulled both fuses on my 2013 1500 and voila! No DRL's and everything else worked just fine. Problem is with my 2015, no fuses to pull anymore. Hardwired now. But I can disable them overtime I start up the pickup by turning switch all the way to the left.

My 2004 also has DRLs. If I don't want them illuminated, I just turn the headlamp switch all the way to the left - and then let it go. They stay off and don't try to come on again until the next time the engine is restarted.
