4.8 silverado vs. mega cab hemi

I have a question for all you racers.. I have a 2002 Silverado 4.8 Ext. Cab 2wd with the gt4 373 rear end and right at 80,000 miles.. My dad has a 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab Hemi 4x4 that has been lifted and is sitting on 35/12.5 all terrains and a hypertech programmer.. My truck is stock and his weighs roughly 7500 or so lbs.. I can stomp on mine at a red light and burn rubber, his cant spin when stomped.. Who do you think will win?..We are going to race eventually, i just wanted to see what everyone else thought.. Thanks guys

One of my friends has a 02 5.3 2wd and he race a hemi and beat him then he raced a friends cummins with a leveling kit on 33's and a smarty chip and an 8000$ tranny and beat him in the long run. so I think you gotta a decent chance since his weighs a lot more and has bigger tires...my 5.3 4wd has a CAI and a Bully dog chip and i can beat a 2wd hemi so good luck

My truck is a 4.8 and even before i modified i could beat my buddy's 03 singlecab hemi 4x4.

Your hole shot says it all.

I have to agree that the 35s, the lift, and the 4X4 drivetrain are going to bog down. That Dodge isn't set up to go light to light.

You got him.

I'd have to question that. the Hemi's (at least pre-09's) are not all that much, but then again the 4.8 is a weak motor.

as for the OP, you should be able to win the race mainly do to his 35's, plus his hypertech really isnt doing anything. both of you would still have your factory TM in place.

take it to the strip and race safely, but most of all, have fun.

thanks guys.. thats what i was thinking.. i have driven his truck plenty of times and it just doesnt have the get-up that mine does.. but, if it were one of the 09's, yea, im pretty sure it would stomp mine.. lol i had no clue that before i got this truck, that it had this much speed..:)

The 4.8 is actually a strong motor. its only 15 horses shy of the 5.3. And all performance parts can be interchanged. and alot cheaper when buying a new truck.

15hp less and 30lb ft less on the Gen III motors. the 4.8 is weak compared to the 5.3's and 6.0's for actual truck use or "racing" use.

the extra money for the larger motor is worth it. i went from a 5.3 to a ho 6.0 and there is no way id go with the smaller motor again.

but a stock 4.8 still will not beat a stock hemi, even though the hemi's kinda suck.
