88 K1500 wiper module

Ok, so I looked at Rock auto and I do not see the wiper module that would fit this truck. I have a 1988 K1500 5.7. Attached is where I thought the wiper module is, if it was where it was supposed to be. I figure its that big black block on the top left, but Rock auto doesnt show anything like that. Anyone know what wiper module I should be looking for? Im attaching a picture

Take the square black cover off. Re-solder the connections where the wiring is attached to the board.
The solder cracks over time and will make an intermittent connection. Allan |

Will look tomorrow takes a big to find it on alldata but parts do change what they look like. But if wipers don't move replace motor

I've finally just said screw it, I'm going to buy new everything related with the function of the wipers, and be done with the problem... hopefully. Where you able to find a replacement for that wiper motor? I have the same motor in my truck and I have not been able to find it. I believe that part on top is the wiper control module, it looks like it might just unplug and separate from the motor but I dont want to try if I cant find a replacement. My wipers will turn on fine but they don't turn off right away and they will stop at random places.

Late in the game for this WS wiper motor thread
Only because I have both an '88' & '89' Silverado. And like many Chevy truck owners I intend to hold on to them for a while being they both run great. Why spend $70K + on a new Silverado if these keep on trucking. Anyway, as all those on this thread have found. The older model windshield motors that I had on my '88' and still have on my '89.' As JohnnyYZ noted and is correct that black square part on the top left above the actual motor is where the pulse module of the older model WS wiper models is located. I was tempted to remove and re-solder the connections of the old pulse board. But figured after 37 yrs., it was time to purchase the newer style WS Wiper motor. And similar to JohnnyZ's issue. My wipers worked on and off and sometimes when I turned them on they wouldn't shut off. My local mechanic & friend told me to give the module a rap with my hand next time the wipers don't shut off and that would be a good indication the pulse module is bad, most likely due to bad solder connections as Allen in NE noted. Sure enough, one not very hard rap to the module area shut the wipers off. I have no doubt that JohnnyYZ has long purchased a new WS Wiper motor and all is working fine with that new motor & pulse board. For those that may read this thread looking for assistance with their classic '80s' Chevy Pick ups. Just a heads up when looking to purchase a replacement for your original WS wiper motor. You'll find they'll range in prices from under $40 on up. Be cautious and read all the descriptions of the WS wiper motor your thinking about purchasing. I can tell you 1st hand the newer models suited to fit our late '80s' Chevy will fit like a glove with the 3 bolt holes perfectly matching up. However, make sure the model you're purchasing has the 5-prong wiring plug. As there are models out there that have inline plug-in connectors versus the 2/1/2 figuration our late model 1980 Chevy PUs have. Also make sure the motor you plan on purchasing fits your wiper motor and switch needs. The lower cost WS Wiper motors are "standard," meaning they only have low & high wiper speeds. If you truck has 'Intermittent/Delay" wiper speeds. Make sure the model you purchase clearly notes the motor includes "delay wiper speed." The Amazon model snapshot below is under $50 & notes delay wiper speed, but it is made in China. For those made in the U.S. the cost will run higher. I found one made in the U.S. on Ebay, But be willing to take the time to open the compatibility sections to confirm the motor you're purchasing includes intermittent/delay wiper speeds. If that is what you need? It took a while to find one. FYI, I happen to stop into our local Chevy Dealer Parts department to see if they even have the availability of the wiper switch, that is located inside the steering column, having to remove the steering wheel and locking plate to access that interior switch. It no longer is made by Chevy/GM for late '80' models. After market for that part if necessary can be found online. Again be careful if you have a tilt wheel and delay wiper speed. You'll need to make sure the after market interior wiper switch meets that need. And of course the cost will be higher than the non-tilt/delay wiper speed option. After replacing the WS Wiper motor, my wiper operation problem was solved. I was just curious to see if the dealership had/sold the interior switch if needed? I'm thinking about seriously replacing the Turn Signal lever with Wiper switch, WS Wash & Cruise Control. After 37 years the white lettering on the lever is no longer legible having been worn away.
