Common for hub bearings to go out?
I just had new tires put on my 2003 2500HD and was told that my front hub bearings on both sides were going out and need to be replaced soon. The tire dealer told me that he sees this "frequently" on Chevy 3/4 ton trucks between 60,000 and 100,000 miles. I have 98,000 miles.
Is this common? Should it be common? What is a fair price for the fix?
Thanks.

RE: Common for hub bearings to go out?
Due to the lack of response am I to assume that this is NOT a common problem??
I have recently start to receive a "check brakes" message which the tire guy says is due to the loose hub bearing and "rubbing" on the ABS sensor. Any ideas?

RE: Common for hub bearings to go out?
I had to replace mine this summer. I have an 02 1500. I put a 6" lift on it though, and that might have caused it to wear out faster. Parts were $150 each and normal shop labor for 1 hour.

we have 6 or more gm trucks at work .if we get over 100klm on the wheel bearings thats good.I think pushing snow really kills wheel bearings lugging the blade around that extra weight is a killer 3/4ton bearings are expensive we pay 250to300 in the great white north ahh
