Default Help with blown rear

I'm new to this site, and looking for some help. I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 4WD. It has 4.10 gears and it blew up the other day. I'm looking for a reliable posi unit with everything I need to do the installation. It has an 8.6 inch 10 bolt with 30 Spline axles. If anyone can help me out with finding a good unit or place where I could find it, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!

those g80 units chevy puts in are tickin time bombs. go with a detroit truetrac posi unit. much much better. Is your truck a HD? or did you already do a gear swap? should have came with 3.73 gears

Yeah I was actually looking at a Detroit TrueTrac unit so it's nice to hear somebody say that they're reliable. My truck isn't an HD, it's a single cab shortbed.. I was surprised by the 4.10s too, but we double checked and it's got 41 on the ring, 10 on the pinion. Maybe the previous owner did a gear swap and didn't tell me about it. Thanks a lot for the help, I'll probably wind up going with the TrueTrac.

Haha absolutely. It's a good little truck I love it. I just ordered the True Trac yesterday so it should be here in a few days... can't wait to have it moving again
