I have what you have but it's a 2007 4.8 Silverado. I have 3.42 gear ratio. I wonder if it will get better gas milege than most???

I also have a trailering option installed. It says high capacity air cleaner, "factory installed" I wonder if this air cleaner is on par with a High flow K&N??

Thanks for any info.

Stashu

I have 260 miles on it. I did 60 highway miles and 200 city miles then added gas. I calculated from the fill up at 13.48 MPG.
Truck is probably too new and tight to be accurate yet on True MPG.

Not so sure about the 4.6, but I would definitely suggest a cold air intake, upgrade your spark plug wires, maybe even goto a hotter plug. You can also do a throttlebody spacer, and an exhaust. The easier it is for your truck to expell exhaust gasses the better the mileage. I have done some serious bolt on mods to my 5.3L and I now average 18 city, dont do too much HWY so I dont have solid numbers yet. I have also heard that tonneaus inprove MPG by decreasing drag, this might be an easy option. And if worse comes to worse, sell the 4.6 engine and drop in a 5.3L, this has to be one of the most popular engines Chevy makes and IM sure any junkyard will have numerous engines available, even on Ebay they only average about 1500 for an engine. Good luck.

man that sucks. I have a 02 2500 HD with the 8.1 502 in it and on the highway I have gotten 13 to 14 mpg. Of course around town I get 10 and seeing as how I live in a small town there is not much highway driving but still for that motor I would have suspected better.

You might have a vacuum line leak or one that is off. That will shoot your MPG in the foot in a heart beat. I have an 06 Crew Cab with the 5.3 and get about 15.5 in town and around 18 to 19 on the hwy.
