Default Question about intakes

If 4.3s and 5.7s are basically the same engine minus 2 cylinders as I have heard, then shouldn't the intakes be the same? All the 5.7 intakes say 5.7 only, and intake pickings for the 4.3 are very very slim... They look the same... Is it just the ID of the tube? Or are they just being mislabeled and I can use a 5.7 intake on my 4.3?

You can only use a 4.3 intake on the 4.3 engine. The 5.7 intake is for the 5.7 or 5.0 because they are v-8 engines which will have two more intake ports on the intake.

Haha, yeah I realize that man. Obviously the intake manifold is different, I was refering to the intake tube and box.. Companies like Volant, K&N, Spectre, etc make them.

Yes, the air filter is on the end of the intake. The intake tube runs from the throttle body to the MAF and the air box connects the MAF to the fender where it draws in air. And the system used in the 4.3 and 5.7 are identical as far as the eye can see. Only difference I could imagine is the ID.

Shoould be the same. All they need to do is contain the MAF and run straight to the plenum on the intake or throttle opening. California cars have a totally different system than the other states.

Yea I thought so. They looked the same. But nothing is listed as 4.3/5.0/5.7, it is all 5.0/5.7. So I was thinking the ID was different or something. Didn't know about California though, that's interesting...
