SWITCHING FROM AUTO4WD TO 2 HI
Happy Holidays everyone.
have goofy question. how do i know that transfer case actually did switch from AUTO4WD to 2HI? reason i am curious is simple: if i switch from 2Hi to 4HI, indicators blink several times, then shift occurs. when i switch from 2HI to AUTO4WD, that inicator will blink few times either. but when i switch from AUTO4WD to 2HI, there's no blinking. lights just change.
it is hard to tell any difference in driving mode anyway, unless your rear wheels slip. i started cycling through 4HI (2HI>AUTO4WD>2HI then, at stop, >4HI and immediately to 2HI). then i can see all those light blinking like they supposed to. and it drives "lighter".
y'alls' doing same or just mine? not that i'm worried, just curious.

mine does that too i have an 08 crew cab 1500 i noticed that and the fact it clunks when shifting into 4wd figured it was because the case was not turning then when going back into 2hi i didnt hear anything the parts were just free wheeling until the truck stopped

You should notice in the steering as well. With my 07 NBS, even the Auto feature has some reduction in steering. I also hear the transfer case whine in Auto as if I was locked in 4 Hi.

thank you all. there's so little difference on mine, that it's hard to tell. i am, most likely, overreacting. i just keep cycling it through 4HI/2HI.

Turn your wheels either way and give it a little gas when you pull away, if you're still in 4WD, you'll feel the front wheels pulling. How about "If it don't fit, force it, if it breaks it needed replacing anyway!" Happy Holidays...
