TBI to Vortec
First of all, Hi to everyone it's been a while since I've been on line. My question is a friend has a 94 vortec crate motor with 54,000 on it. I have a 95 350 TBI in mine. He says that because it's an older vortec all I would need to do is put my existing intake manifold and throttlebody with my distributor out of my 95. I'm hearing i'd have to swap heads, change to a different type of gear on my distributor to work with the vortec cam. I'm hoping for a simple swap. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

I've never heard of a tbi intake going on a vortec. But I've never seen a pre 96 vortec either.
Typically you have to get a vortec to tbi intake or its cheaper to get a vortec to carb intake and use a tbi adapter.

His brother told me my computer will still work with it because the 94 vortec doesn't have coil packs. I'm hearing to use the tbi heads instead of the vortec heads. that seems like that would be defeating the purpose of switching motors.

The TBI intake will not fit the vortec heads. The bolt pattern is not the same for the intake manifold.
193 TBI heads
Vortec heads
As far as then cam and distributor I am unsure.

Thank You , that's what I thought. I will stick to the tbi engine. I just don't want to get to carried away $$$ with this. I hear a lot of people staying with tbi versus vortec.
