Ticking sound around wheels (2004 2500 6.0)
I have a 2004 2500 6.0. Anytime I accelerate I hear a ticking noise get faster and slows down when I decelerate. When I'm stopped it doesn't make any noise. It's pretty loud and it's starting to annoy me. Any help? I hear it around the wheels.

Could be something as simple as a rock stuck in the tire tread. Happens to me all the time. Or a you picked up a nail and he head is tapping. U-joints usually squeak but could be. Block the wheels put it in neutral. Crawl under there and see if you can move the drive shaft up and down or side to side.
I would check the tires first though. Look them all over the pull ahead a foot and do it again so you can see the whole tire.

Hi Angeles_432, Welcome to the Chevrolet Forums.
My guess would be a screw or nail in your tire.
A rope plug patch kit is a great investment. You
can patch the tire while it's still inflated, if you
do it quickly.

Found the problem
Well it was simplest thing . The caps on my rims are looses I tightened the screws around but they still rattle. Should I order new rim caps? I took them completely off than back on and still rattled.

Well, one thing you can do if you are not opposed to some redneck ingenuity as a hold over is to take the center cap out <s>and run a bead of masking tape around the lip to thicken it up to the point where it is a little effort to put in. Not hard to put in mind you just enough where you know you pushed to get it in there, then screw it back down as normal.
I did this to a jeep once and the owner was very happy that it stopped vibrating and shifting, and the fact he didn't have to pay anything was a bit of a perk too. It's been a couple years and it's still holding up for him.</s>
After some quick research I see it's not a flush center cap like the 1500's and my previous suggestion won't work for that. For that I would run a couple layers of tape on the back surface to push it away from the rim a little bit until it stops. The screws may not be getting tight because they literally can't go far enough to pull the cap tight. That said the issue is most likely in the rim or the screws them selves and not the center cap.
*EDIT*
Can you post up pics of the screws and their holes on the rim it self, might be able to confirm or deny that theory visually.
