Tranny Cooler

The 2000 silverado 1500 I bought has a 5.3 V8 and it came with the tow package. My question is, does it have a transmission cooler from the factory? What do I look for to see if ut does or doesn't? Thanks again

They come with a factory transmission cooler. It might be wise to add a transmission cooler if you do a lot of towing.

Thank you, I plan on using it for towing so I will look into adding one.

the towing package should come with an up graded cooler

Ok, I have a question. My 08 has a really small external trans cooler. All the tranny lines are pressure fitted lines. So how do you install a secondary, larger cooler?

im looking to add one to my truck. but im not sure as to where to put it and how do u hook it up, in series or parallel

cleveland63b Jul 17, 2012 7:53 PM

most of them should come as a kit with everything you'd need

isrummell Jul 18, 2012 6:10 AM

but where do u mount it? i dont have much room between the radiator and the grill on my truck

You would hook it up in series and try and put it somewhere that has air flowing around it to help keep it cool.

no need for 2 tranny coolers. Look into a tru-kool 40k cooler. They're the best of the best and make the stock tranny cooler look like a paper weight.

transmissioncoolers.us: Tru-Cool MAX transmission cooler *No external cold weather thermal bypass

comes with everything needed to install. Might want to get a tranny temp gauge if you tow that much.
