Waterpump on a 305....

I've got my new waterpump on, but how soon can I drive it? I used silicone gasket sealer. Been so long since I've done one, I dont remember. Tube says 12 hours, but have to be at work in 4 hours.

That depends on if you used gaskets AND sealer, or sealer as a SUBSTITUTE for the gaskets. If you used the gaskets with sealer, you should be fine. If you used just silicone, I'd wait the whole 12 hours.

RE: Waterpump on a 305....

I used a combo....oh man I messed up. I fired it up and water started running out. I crawled up under with a flashlight and swore that water was coming from the timing cover. I eventually figured out it was the water pump. AHHHGG! I ruined the gasket with bolt. Stripped it all back down, now I've got it back together about to crank again. Oh, and as a bonus, my radiator sprung a pin hole leak. Its like, "what he hell". 1st the lower radiator hose, water pump, now the radiator in a course of 3 weeks. You know what? Still wouldn't sell this truck. It's almost priceless. Water pump came off and on in about 25 miutes. THAT has no price tag. Do that on a Caravan.
